Because reading is a chore, boring to some, and what is worse is that throughout schools and universities reading is almost a ‘mandate’ to obtain some type of knowledge.

People who end up loving to read/listen to audiobooks find joy in the hobby because they end up learning something useful or get lost in what they read like a movie.
